The Reference Library Threads page lists the thread specimens currently cataloged for the Thread Testing for Lace Making project.
Each row represents a single thread specimen in the reference library. As new contributions are received and processed, the collection will continue to grow.
If you’d like to contribute thread, please visit the Contributing Thread page for complete instructions.
Tip: Check the Library Count column before sending thread. If you have a thread that already appears in the reference library, please don’t assume it is no longer needed.
The Library Count indicates how many specimens of that particular thread are currently represented in the reference library.
- Library Count = 1 – Additional contributions are especially welcome.
- Library Count = 2 – Additional contributions are still helpful for testing additional patterns.
- Library Count = 3 – The thread is well represented, although an additional contribution may be useful.
- Library Count = 4 – Additional contributions of this thread are not needed.
The Identified Lace Type is based on contributor information and my own research. If you use a thread for a different type of lace (Torchon, Bucks, Chantilly, etc), or recognize a thread whose lace type is listed as Unknown, I’d love to hear from you. Community knowledge helps improve the accuracy and usefulness of the reference library.
Every contribution helps strengthen the project, so thank you for your help.
